A couple of peasants have a son who is very, very small. They love him with all their heart. One day, he bends over the pot to smell the good soup. The steam carries him up the chimney and he hangs on for dear life to the highest branch of a tree. Luckily, a squirrel lives there and brings him back down to the forest. Thumbling decides to go and explore the big wide world.

Creative workshop: a little wee Tumbling girl or boy, sleeping in a matchbox.
